I don’t know how many clients come to me looking for a bigger audience or more exposure or being number one on a search engine. These are all great goals. We all want more exposure to talk to a bigger audience and it’s often through being on that first page of search where things happen. However, it’s not really the best approach.
Most of us are not Amazon or Target or Starbucks. Amazon has nearly anything you can imagine, often at a good price point, and available with fairly quick delivery. Target stores are abundant and they also offer online shopping. Target and Amazon have products that appeal to the masses. Even Starbucks, which offers mostly beverage products, have other items that may appeal to a broad spectrum of shoppers. Our offers are not for everyone. What we have is for a focused and specific client or customer.
Get clear about who your client or customer is and is not. Knowing this can help you make sure that your product or service is just what they need. It will help you decide how you will brand, launch, and share what you have with those who can benefit from it. It allows you to make changes, updates, and modifications to best serve your client. You deliver through not only your product or service but through your customer experience.
Focusing on everyone will get you nowhere. Focusing on your client or customer and their needs will get you everywhere.
